The challenge
A new Chief Strategy Officer needed to find the right end markets and products to unlock growth across three unrelated business units in a slow growing industry.
What was done
- Built a framework to shortlist more than 10 product categories across more than 30 end markets.
- Created a detailed market map that yielded more than 8 growth plays.
- Assessed value chain dynamics in each priority market.
- Ran an acquisition scan that identified more than 80 targets.
The result
The work identified more than $500M of growth opportunities. More than eight acquisitions followed, with more than $300M of top line impact. This program was led by Sam Garg at McKinsey before Aristotle was founded; the method now runs in Customer Intelligence and the research engine.
